The goals of this class are:


1) Document your progress in your majors
2) Keep a backup of your projects for future reference and department assessment
3) Make sure that you have learned what you are supposed to learn in your specific areas.

You MUST have your own website, server space and domain name for this class, where you will be posting not only the works you will be developing for your Senior Project, but also all of the other projects you produced during your tenure at the University of Tampa. This is a general Portfolio Site.

You CANNOT USE WIX or any pre-established free template sites.

Use WORDPRESS with a basic responsive template (no bells and whistles: focus on the content and not the looks of the site)

SEND ME THE LINKS TO YOUR SITES ASAP, so we can set up the links to all your portfolios!

We care about your work, the qaulity of these works, you passion, and how you have progressed up until this point in your education.

In your general portfolio, we want to be able to evaluate your knowledge in

1) Drawing (and or) Illustration (and or) 2D Design (and or) Graphic Design
2) 3D Modelling and Printing (and or) 3D Animation (etc.)
3) Digital Media ( Canvas, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. )
4) Time based art ( Animation / Video / Sound etc.)
5) The projects you did in ART 211 Art and Technology, showing us that you have a general understanding of the history and evolution of New Media

Categorize the menu on your site like this

HOME => Welcoming page, you can upload a picture and post a PROFESSIONAL head shot, as well as an image of one of BEST works

2D => drawing, painting, illustration, design, graphic design...

3D => analog (sculpture/installation) and digital (3D animation, 3D printing, 3D Modelling)

Digital => photography, image manipulation, special effects

Time => video, audio

Other => performance, installation, happenings, land art, etc...

Statement => professional statement (see below)

=> 1 paragraph bio (with a different head shot)


The Statement is your PROFESSIONAL STATEMENT (think of it as the Artist's Statement, with the focus on getting a job, presenting your strengths, turning your weaknesses into strengths, and letting us know who inspires you in your work). You CANNOT write this before having your portfolio categorized, there is no way you can write something in the void, it MUST refer to the works you are presenting. That is why we have some time for this.

You will be required to create a 3 page minimum document with screenshots and the progress of your Senior Projects, explaining the nature and evolution of your final works at UT.

The BIO is a 1 paragraph short description of who you are
The CV is your RESUME: you can start working on this one now, and you can upload a PDF file, as well as a READABLE SCREEN SHOT of it in case the PDF doesn't work. MAXIMUM ONE PAGE, more than 1 page is not a good idea...

Select for each one of the portfolio areas representative examples of your work ( min 3, max 5 in each category ) and if you have more in one category than another make sure you explain why.

Write ONE descriptive paragraph per project explaining what it is, how was it made, and any meaningful information you think can make us understand better your creative process. After this you can give us a short general feedback on the class and what you learned, so we can benefit from your comments, besides your actual projects, to see how can we improve the courses we offer and will offer in the future.

NB: We are not looking for EXCELLENCE in oyour previous projects, BUT WE REALLY ARE LOOKING FOR SUPERIOR, OUTSTANDING, PROFESSIONAL QUALITY in your Senior Projects!

I suggest you group the projects and list them chronologically, from the oldest project to the newest, so we can see your evolution, and provide some meaningful feedback.

If you have the progression of one specific project, upload up to three images that show us how that project grew in time, but have in mind that the three images will count as one project at the end. You could also create a collage of images that will allow us to see the evolution in one image.

If you think that it is important, you can do the same process for 3D animations / Animations / Videos / Audio Clips, by posting screen shots of the way you created them in each application. Remember MAXIMUM 3 (three) evolution process images, per project, ONLY if you consider it is going to enhance our perception of that project.

Please make sure you upload good quality images to your sites, but have in mind that we will examine your works on computer screens over the web, so please OPTIMIZE the files you are uploading: Make sure your JPG photos are no bigger than 1200px on any side at 72DPI (this is not printed media, and at the end your portfolio will be archived electronically).

All videos should be housed on YouTube or Vimeo, as well as correctly compressed for HTML5 as MP4, OGV and WEBM. Make sure you provide the full link to the project, and EMBED the videos on your site, as well as provide THREE (3) screen grabs of your project (select the 3 best frames of your videos, optimize them and post them)

We are giving you sufficient time to upload your projects, we want to make sure they will be uploaded and ready to be presented


so that we can review your sites with sufficient time and meet collectively to provide correct feedback. The meeting with the faculty will be announced once all your sites and your projects are are ready to be presented, it will surely happen before or during exams week.


Please review every single one of your posts on your site, in each category. Try to use a critical eye when looking at your works and in 4 paragraphs you will tell us the following:

Header: your name, major, current semester and expected graduating semester, the URL of your sites (this does not count as a paragraph)

• What are your weaknesses (areas where you feel you need more training and what has prevented you from getting that training)
• What are your strengths (be authentic about your own work)
• What aspects of your education brought you to the level where you are right now (which classes and professors gave you the best formation or the best tools to realize where you are right now)
• Where do you see yourselves after you graduate and what do you expect to get out of your majors to be where you want to be in the future.

Stick to ONE PARAGRAPH MAXIMUM per subject, please! And do not copy/paste the questions: Integrate the questions into your answers, make it sound like paragraphs that are actually connected.

We do not want to have you post them in your blogs / a public environment because we want to respect your privacy, the privacy of your professors and your honest opinion.

We need your honest opinion to make sure the new department and our programs go in the right direction. This is a self-evaluation, not a predetermined set of answers and cliches that won't help anyone grow.

Please turn these statements into PDFS and send them directly via email to your faculty members by the determined deadline.

Shortly after we receive those statements, we will determine meeting times for our personal feedback, these could happen as a Google Hangouts or Skype video conferences if necessary.


Whether this is class is graded or with a PASS or FAIL status, it does not mean that plagiarism will not be sanctioned: we expect you to present your OWN personal work, without a hint of plagiarism. This is your chance to shine as individuals, prove it and DO NOT PLAGIARIZE.

The Integrity Policies are a general guideline for all classes.

Regarding attendance: we will agree on meeting times, and after those meeting times have been agreed upon, you WILL BE EXPECTED to show up or these will count as absences! Our time is equally as precious as yours!
