Process and Strategy

The goal of this class is to prepare the students for the BFA Senior Show, required for all students receiving a BFA degree.

The BFA Exit show runs from Monday, May 2nd until Saturday, May 7th. The Mandatory reception for all the students is Friday, May 6th at 7PM and Graduation is Saturday May 7th.

Deadline for turning in the artwork is Friday April 29th, the mounting of the Show is Saturday April 30th and May 1st.

Readings / assignments / requirements

You will be required to create and post your works for the show and your portfolio online. You may use your own server space and domain name for this class. There are plenty of very inexpensive and efficient options on the web such as Dreamhost or you can use Google Sites to create your free space ( with the condition of customizing your own design ).

All your assignments will be posted on your web sites, and they will gradually build your online portfolio. This online portfolio will be included in the Art Department assessment.

Make sure you check and empty your ut webmail account regularly. We will use Blackboard permanently to post the grades and communicate.

Short readings will be distributed throughout the semester. Most of the information will be provided by the professor or will be found freely online. Critiques will frequently be initiated from various topics covered in the readings. In order to participate effectively you will need to have read the required texts and be able to articulate your responses to them within the context of class discussion and critique.

Grading

The Senior show ( consists tthe final version of your Artist's Statement, your CV, your presence during the Opening of the Exit Exit Show on May 6th and the actual Display of your works in the Gallery ) will consist 50% of the final grade. 50% of the class will be the evolution of your projects and the participation - whether virtual or real - in the class. The grades posted on BlackBoard may not reflect the final grade on SpartanWeb

Possible last-minute changes

Although unlikely, it is possible that last-minute changes might be made to the dates for all assignments or class meetings, excepting only the final exam. In this unlikely event, I'll make all possible efforts to inform students with sufficient lead-time.

I reserve the right to modify this syllabus for any reason at any time.
